Founder, Straits Index (M) Sdn Bhd Yong formed Straits Index (M) Sdn Bhd in 1998, mainly providing education services to stock investors. He is also the designer of WinChart, one of the earliest stock charting software available in Malaysia that is still widely used today.

In 2014, Yong registered Straits Index as an Associate Participant (AP) of Bursa Malaysia Derivative and is under the High Volume Trading (HVT) Program. He has successfully trained a group of profitable traders under Straits Index and collectively trade approximately 60,000 lots per month.

Yong is currently a trainer for Securities Industry Development Corporation (SIDC), conducting training for Malaysia capital market services representative licensees. He is frequently invited to speak for various financial institutions, local and abroad. Besides, Yong was a regular columnist for Sin Chew Daily, United Daily and Money Compass for more than 10 years. He is also frequently invited to speak about the market on radio and TV.
